Bob Palumbo

lead pastor

Bob is from Gloucester City, NJ and is the first born of 7 boys. He and his wife Marilyn began their relationship on graduation day of high school. They were married a year and a half later, had two beautiful daughters. Bob worked for a utility company and played in a rock band on the weekends. In 1974, he had a pretty dramatic conversion and began to follow Jesus. A year later Bob sense a call to ministry and the family moved to Indiana where Bob attended Anderson University and went to seminary at Anderson School of Theology.

The Palumbo's connected with the Vineyard in 1984 and during the 80s Bob and Marilyn helped plant and pastored two Vineyard churches. He and Marilyn launched what is now Vineyard Community Church as a small group in 1992.

Bob loves his 5 grandchildren, plays guitar, paints impressionist art, likes to read and listen to music. Some around here know that his favorite band is The Beatles.

Bob's life verse is Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."

Amos Groenendyk

associate pastor

Amos is passionate about making disciples for Jesus. Following Jesus has been the great adventure of his life that has taken him through Michigan, Iowa, Ohio, Montana, Uganda, Jerusalem and now to Pennsylvania! After Amos graduated from Calvin College and then Calvin Seminary, God called them to plant Revive Vineyard Church in Grand Rapids, MI. During that time, God awakened a new hunger and thirst in him for experiencing the joy of God's presence.

Amos and his wife, Alison, share almost all their passions, likes and hobbies. Their favorite pastime is watching football. Alison roots for the Packers and Amos for the 49ers. They enjoy hot tubs, hiking, hosting and eating tasty food. Their favorite shows are Mad Men, Grey's Anatomy, Downtown Abbey and The Americans. They listen to Mumford & Sons, John Mayer, and All Sons & Daughters. While Amos had a strict "no cat" policy when they first got married, he softened and now they have two Ragdoll cats named Mika and Ruki.

Amos values spiritual depth, emotional health, and an engaged mind. He elevates theology that is in line with historic Christian orthodoxy, alongside and experience and expression of God's kingdom that transforms lives. He believes that God's word and God's Spirit are equally vital to stay in step with His will. This striving for the "radical middle" is why he is in the Vineyard Movement.

Amos wants to help grow a community of people who are hungry for God coming together to worship with complete surrender and sacrificial obedience to Jesus. He wants to inspire people to do things that require faith and be released in the power of the Holy Spirit. He looks forward to pastoring a church that lays hands on the sick, cares for the poor, worships passionately, proclaims the gospel and exalts Jesus.

His life verse is Amos 5:4 (after all, if you're named after a biblical prophet, you might as well take advantage of it): "This is what the LORD says to Israel: 'Seek me and live'"

Emily Nefos

assistant pastor

Emily grew up in Ohio, but moved to Pennsylvania as a teenager. After attending Eastern University, she was a missionary for a few years in the Congo and eventually returned to Pennsylvania where she married her longtime friend, Frank Nefos. Together, they visited VCC and never looked further! After teaching for 5 years, Emily and Frank had Zachary and two years later, Maggie.

Emily has served at the Vineyard for nine years in children’s ministry, outreach, homegroup leading, and other areas. She was thrilled to come on board to handle the finances four years ago and even more thrilled to be asked to come on as an assistant pastor this year.

Emily loves the outdoors, swimming, spending time with family, reading, traveling, learning, praying for people and just talking, in general!

Emily’s life verse is: Isaiah 30:21 “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way;  walk in it.

Sarah Elmer

Worship Pastor

Sarah is obsessed with the presence of the God. What does this mean? She loves to be in it, be led to it and lead others there. Whether that looks like a time of singing together or serving her family or fighting for justice… nothing can beat being aware of what God is doing in that moment and being able to be a part of it.

Sarah LOVES people: getting to know them, being around them and getting a little crazy! Can you tell that she’s and extrovert? Sarah is excited to be a part of this community and lean into the presence of God together! Sarah is excited to be a part of this community and lean into the presence of God together!

She is grateful to her parents and grandparents who loved Jesus. They taught her to serve from a very young age. As a young girl she was involved in her neighborhood church. Her family traveled all over the U.S. with her family in an old Blue Bird R.V. (so many stories here). Those experiences of being exposed to people of all ages and walks of life has really shaped who she is today. Sarah’s family eventually settled down in Syracuse, NY and she went from being homeschooled to attending an inner city school in the city of Syracuse. This time of her life opened her eyes to so many of the injustices that exist in our world and gave her a love for being a part of a community that is diverse in ethnicity and socioeconomic status. Sarah started attending a Vineyard youth group and was introduced to the breaking through of the presence of God in worship and fell in love. Sarah volunteered at the Syracuse Vineyard and eventually came on staff as an administrative assistant and worship co-ordinator and over the years transitioned into Graphic design and later pastoral ministry.

Sarah married her wonderful husband, Josh, in 2007 and they have 3 incredible kiddos together. The Elmer family moved to Philadelphia in 2014 so that Josh could earn his MBA at Drexel University and attended Blue Route Vineyard and Sarah came on staff as a janitor! Although she hates to clean, God was so faithful to use this time of service to His church and providing for her family for significant growth! After Graduation, Josh accepted a role at Pennsylvania Power and Light and they all moved to Emmaus, Pa. Where they live currently!

When Sarah is overwhelmed and feeling like life is too busy, A verse that she uses to recalibrate her life is Micah 6:8. "He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy  and to walk humbly with your God."

Marilyn Palumbo

preschool director

Marilyn grew up in Gloucester City, NJ where she lived a short mile from Bob Palumbo until they married at 19 years of age. Although not childhood sweethearts, they have been adult sweethearts for almost 50 years. After marrying and having 2 girls, she realized the great need in her life to follow Jesus and let him lead and direct her paths. After moving 13 times, her and Bob settled in this area and planted the Vineyard in 1992.

Marilyn has served in children's ministry and areas of administration at the Vineyard. Then in 2007 launched the Vineyard School of Early Learning, an outreach ministry of the Vineyard Church. It's been a joy to see children graduate knowing the importance of loving God and others which is the mission of the school

Marilyn lives by Micah 6:8 "He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."
